EQ50: Equine Anatomy Precourse Distance Study
Please register for the Equine Anatomy Course. Your course documents will be available via download immediately upon receipt of your enrollment and fees. Download links are active for 14 days
If you want to learn more about the musculoskeletal system, this course is the perfect choice. The 176-page manual contains more relevant material than most onsite courses that you will attend! (Well…not our onsite equine qualification bodywork courses; that course text is over 700 pages and the workbook another 150 pages!)
Your links to the course are on the computer-generated invoice sent upon registration. Please check your spam if you do not see this. They are good for 14 days only. If you need assistance please write julieequinology(at)gmail.com to resend the documents.
Who should take this course? Horse owners, trainers, caregivers, farriers, bodyworkers, saddle fitters, breeders, veterinarian technicians and assistants, barn managers, physical therapists and anyone in the health care industry who would like to expand their current knowledge. This course is also the required precourse anatomy distance study course used for our signature Equinology® Equine Body Worker (EEBW) Certification courses and is also the Module One: Precourse Equine Anatomy Study and Review for the Academy of Animal Sports Science’s Animal Sports Therapy Rehabilitation Certification for licensed professionals and the EBER: Evidence Based Equine Rehabilitation Online Lecture Series for the general public. This is such a highly respected course that it is used for other school programs requiring precourse anatomy study before the student attends the onsite course. You will find it beneficial for any bodywork approach, biomechanics, lameness, saddle fit, farrier or trimming or stretching course or workshop you plan to attend now or in the future. Get your head start now.
Lay down the bones and learn those layers of muscles as well as veterinary anatomy! Understand what it means if someone says they are flexing or extending a joint or if they are abducting a limb. If you are serious about continuing on to learn bodywork as a professional, you need the lingo if you want to play with the big kids.
An app is available to help you learn: Equine Anatomy Learning Aid for iPhones and Android for $15.99USD: www.equiinkpublications.com
If you are wanting a closer look at our Equinology® Equine Body Worker (EEBW) Certification, the EEBW course numbers are EQ100 and EQ101. These are all the same course content but differ in amount of days attending and hours per day; you only need to attend one.
If you are going to attend one of our onsite courses, signing up for this course now allows you the luxury of studying well ahead of time or if you are looking for a review. With the expanded EQ50 course, we have determined it takes around 100 hours to complete.
After completing the course the student will be able to:
- identify the skeletal system and locate the regions of the skeleton on horses
- understand the veterinary terminology, vocabulary and directional terms enabling the student to communicate with others in the field and continue with self-learning exercises
- apply palpation skills for the equine surface anatomy and compare them among horses
- distinguish and label the four layers of common muscles of the horse to assist future learning
- compare horse’s skeletal regions and be able to note the differences between horses as well note the asymmetries of the individual horse
- understand the terms related to movement of the horse
- evaluate the musculoskeletal symmetry of the horse to determine if there are differences which need to be addressed by a health care professional.
Course Content: Anatomy and Veterinary Terminology and Vocabulary, The Muscular System, The Skeletal System and Palpating Bony Landmarks and Surface Anatomy
Methods of Instruction and Delivery: This is a self-paced course. Although it is designed to be completed in less than two months, we do allow the student one year from the time of registration to complete at home. The complete course manual (176 pages) is downloadable at the time of course purchase and one additional download is included at no extra charge. You do not have to purchase the text. Note: download links are valid for 14 days from the time of purchase.
If you prefer a hard copy you are free to print a copy for yourself. If you do not have access to printer remember you can download the link onto a USB and take it to your favorite print store. If this does not work for you there are hard copies available for purchase at your own expense ($89.95). These are bound and printed in color on quality paper: This is sent directly from the printer who also calculates the shipping charges (which is extremely expensive). Buy Here >> Equine Anatomy Distance Study Manual.
There are Additional Learning Activities within the manual which are required components of the course, not optional. If you do not complete them you will miss a good deal of the course.
When you have completed reviewing all the course content, you will request the open book final online exam. The course is good for one year from the date of registration. You must request your exam link no later that one month after your course expires. Once you open the link you will have 4 hours to complete your exam. No worries! You have 3 attempts to pass.
