EQ1100: Equine Myofascial Release Techniques Level I
Please note: If you are taking the course for personalize interest, you can sign up for the tuition fee without the externship. We cannot add it in later.
Author and instructor Ruth Mitchell-Golladay, PT leads this five-day course. All of us in the industry recognize Ruth as the “queen” of MFR! She has been featured many times in print, she is invited by physical therapy groups as well as veterinary groups to present workshops and she has been an invited guest on several talk shows.
Those already certified in Equine Sports Massage and other modalities will find that this dynamic approach fits in well with their work, adding a new dimension to it. Ruth will also do an MFR session on you so you can feel the touch of a professional. This experience will immediately carry over to the next you administer. You’ll discover wonderful results when you integrate these techniques into your existing sessions. Read the testimonials from former participants:
“Learning myofascial release work has taken me to the next level in my equine bodywork practice. Myofascial release has enhanced my intuition or energy with a horse and I feel like it really plays into the wellness part of my goal as an equine bodyworker and wellness educator. My connection with horses has always been there but learning and practicing myofascial release work has helped me become more grounded and learn more about myself. I now feel an even greater connection, almost instant, when I’m with a horse. I have used MFR to ‘get thru’ to the horse that was not accepting of bodywork. The horse that was guarded, some that acted like they would take a swing at me, before they would let me touch them, have changed and now look forward to seeing me.
I incorporate Myofascial release with my Equinology bodywork and visa versa, which makes it such a great tool to have, I especially love the cranial work of myofascial release.
It has become an amazing tool and asset for me as an Equinology Equine Body Worker.” Denise S.
“I found I feel more with the two open hands on vs actual muscle work. I jump back and forth within a session. I’ve also since learned a governor hold and following bladder meridian which has profound effects on some.” Margaret C.
“It’s amazing! It’s hard to put it into words. I would take both 1 and 2. You feel the muscle movements more and the energy from the horse. You can feel the electricity between the two of you.” Stefanie B.
“It was a huge learning experience for me! I have found MFR incredibly effective – it opens up a whole new world! Love it!” Kathleen B.
“I have found MFR to be a great tool to start out on extremely sensitive or suspicious horses that may be in a lot of discomfort and really don’t want to be touched. After a couple of areas of MFR they are typically ready for regular massage moves and bodywork. I have only taken the first course of MFR but the second class is on my list of courses to take.” Vicke M.
“I think that MFR opened so many doors for me. Gave me so many new tools and my work became much more effective. Being able to connect with the more sensitive horses and those who have been holding and hiding pain for extended period of time is probably the most important. MFR can allow you to slowly gain permission and access from the horses to areas they have held and blocked for years. It definitely improved my ability to read the horse and make improvements in their comfort and wellbeing.” Katy P.
Are you just beginning your studies in the equine healthcare industry? This is not a problem, you will find this an easy approach for understanding and apply the modality. Lots of hands-on! You will want to sign up for the EQ50: Equine Anatomy Distance Study Course well before the start of the course.
The instructor is constantly allowing this course to evolve with her ever-increasing knowledge. Like many of our instructors, she too continues her education and enhances her practices by attending conferences, events, courses, and workshops.
Participants are trained in the theory, concepts, and practice of Myofascial Release (MFR) as it pertains to the equine population. MFR restores the length and elasticity of the fascia creating long-term benefits.
